It is with tremendous sadness that I share the breaking news that took place in California earlier today.
I am not categorizing this as Christian persecution in the way that we normally look at Christian persecution on this blog, but I feel this story deserves some attention and prayer because it took place at a Christian University which also has a medical school, a school of theology and offers studies in music and nursing. One can assume that the most of the people who were killed were Christians, or at least, friendly towards Christianity. No motive has been disclosed as to why the gunman shot and killed the students at this school.
Fox News is reporting the following:
Authorities earlier described the gunman as a heavyset Korean man in his 40s wearing khaki clothing. "I can confirm that we do have one person who has been detained that we believe is possibly responsible for this shooting," Watson said.
KTVU-TV reported that the shooter was a student and opened fire in a classroom.
KTVU-TV is also reporting on the shooting:
Oakland police have confirmed that seven victims have died and three were wounded in the shooting spree. Several victims were transported to Highland Hospital for treatment while the bodies of several of the dead covered by tarps were lined up on the grass in front of the school.
Please keep the families of the deceased in your prayers, as well as those who are now recovering from gun shot wounds. Pray for all involved in this tragic situation, and especially pray for the gunman that they would be brought to justice.
